Lauren Matthews

Lauren is from Ozona, Texas. She moved to Colorado to study Psychology at the University of Denver; where she was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2002.
After graduation, Lauren worked for a family law firm for several years before deciding to attend the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in Dallas; where she specialized in tax and oil and gas law. Lauren served as a student attorney in the SMU Tax Clinic, representing clients before the I.R.S. and the United States Tax Court, and volunteered for The VITA Program; preparing and filing income taxes for low-income individuals. In addition, Lauren was an active member in the SMU Energy Law Association and served as a research assistant for Elaine Carleton’s 2008 paper on oil and gas law for the Estate Planning section of the Colorado Bar Association.
After graduating Cum Laude in 2008, Lauren was a law clerk for Carleton Law Firm until she joined the firm as an Associate upon passing the Colorado State Bar.
